Tyson Fury V Vinny Maddalone

Next Sat David Haye tackles Dereck Chisora in a well documented grudge match. It has the boxing world split on whether the fight should go ahead. It is going ahead and to the excitement of many boxing fans they can’t wait to see which guy is going to come out on top in what looks a highly competitive bout which is going to be shown on Boxnation.

This Saturday Tyson Fury whom has already beaten Dereck Chisora on points steps in the ring again against a world class opponent. Well, this is what Channel 5 has been using as their promotional claim in their advertisement. It was rumoured that Chagaev was the opponent for Fury and I was looking forward to seeing Tyson take on an opponent whom has credible status.

Tyson’s last opponent was martin rogan whom he boxed the whole fight as a southpaw, nulified rogan’s best form of attack and stopped him with a wicked body shot. I was expecting Fury to take on an opponent that would continue to see his improvements. Having worked hard to get himself into good shape he is due to face Vinny Maddalone.

First of all Vinny is not world class. he isnt even as good as Fury’s last 3 opponents. This fight is a major step backwards. What Vinny brings to this fight is a big heart. Thats is to be brutally honest.

He was knocked out badly by Adamek whom has fought in lower weight divisions before campaigning as a heavyweight. He isnt known for his knockout power. He was stopped by an 42 year old Evander Holyfield.

Vinny comes in straight lines, is easy to hit and doesnt have the greatest of chins. He is very open to getting caught by counters and I can see Fury stopping him within 3 rounds. However what does this prove?

I actually believe that Fury wants to fight better opponents, he does talk and conduct himself like a fighting man and knows that this opponent really shouldnt even be in the ring with him. Fury should really have been showcasing his talents against an opponent with a name in the top 20 to keep his name in the loop for future big fights especially as the other 2 british heavyweights are fighting next week with the world’s media awaiting something a bit special.

There is no justification for such a poor selection of opponent. Lets hope Fury gets rid of him, doesnt walk onto anything stupid and gets ready for a meaningful fight in the not to distant future.

Fury within 3 round by KO.
